Dallas CBP Seizes Huge Shipment of Trademark Goods!
cbp.gov, Apr 10, 2007
U.S. Customs and Border Protection - The Port of Dallas/Fort Worth made a record seizure of counterfeit items. Clothing, watches, accessories and handbags were packed in a shipment of counterfeit goods from China that arrived at the Dallas-Fort Forth International Airport on a flight from Japan on Feb. 18.
A complete inventory of the shipment was conducted and violations of 31 Intellectual Property Rights trademarks registered with U.S. Customs and Border Protection were verified. The domestic value of the shipment was estimated at $309,355, and the retail sales total is $2,291,686.
As the primary U.S. border enforcement agency, CBP plays a key role in IPR enforcement. CBP fights trade in fakes by seizing counterfeit and pirated goods at our borders, identifying business practices linked to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) theft and working with their enforcement counterparts to eliminate fraud.
