Website Trademark

Website trademark infringements are a common problem in cyberspace. Trademark infringement often occurs when websites display trademarks in a way that causes confusion, for example by using another company's trademarked logos on a web site in a way that gives the impression that the trademark holder sponsors or is associated with the web page. When linking to another website, trademark law may be violated if the use of a trademarked logo is deceptive in regard to its origin. This is common among websites that discuss the products and services of other companies. Often, a website trademark infringement is accidental and done without malicious intent, and contacting the party responsible for the infringement is often enough to resolve the matter. In other cases, unscrupulous websites may purposely violate trademark laws in order to promote their own interests. In this case, a formal cease and desist letter may be sent. The Internet Service Provider hosting the infringing website may also be contacted in order to remove the infringing content.
