Using Stock Photos

There are many websites now offering stock photos for public use. But just because the photo is on the website does not mean it can be copied and used elsewhere without obtaining permission from the owner of the image. Even stock photos are subject to the same copyright laws as music, printed material, or artwork. Reputable online stock photo sites will take great care to insure owners of all photos offered for free to the public have given permission for the photos to be copied. The same is true of stock photos sold in stores. You cannot copy and paste or reproduce stock photos, no matter the source, unless it is clear the owners have given permission. Some online stock photo companies will have both free photos and photos that can only be used after a fee is paid. When you pay a free for a stock photo, you are buying the right to use it as you please.
