Track Internet Usage

Many people use software designed to track Internet usage, both for professional and personal reasons. Companies often track the Internet usage of their employees in order to ensure that Internet usage policies are being followed. Employers may also track the Internet usage of their employees in order to watch for risky online behavior which could cause problems for the company. Internet gambling, shopping, and viewing adult material online while on the job is a concern for many employers, as these activities waste company time as well as open up company computers to harmful viruses. Web content viewed by employees on company computers as well as personal emails sent may be viewed by employers, who are generally legally allowed to monitor and track how their company computers are used. Snooping or monitoring programs are also often used by individuals on their personal computers in order to track Internet usage. Parents often take advantage of such programs in oder to monitor their children's online activity.
