Online Trademark Search

Anyone wishing to officially register a trademark should first conduct an online trademark search to make sure that the desired mark or a similar mark is not already trademarked by another party. The United States Patent and Trademark Office hosts a searchable database of current and pending trademark applications for this purpose. Many companies also offer services relating to trademark applications, and for a fee these companies will do all necessary work, including conducting an online trademark search, in order to save customers time and effort. Once it is determined through an online trademark search that the desired mark is not already trademarked, an official trademark application must be filled out and submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A filing fee is required to submit a trademark application. The application will then be reviewed and another trademark search will be conducted. A trademark attorney will review the application and determine whether to approve or deny the trademark.
