Internet Usage Monitor

Internet usage monitor programs are used by both businesses and individuals in order to monitor and track online activity. Internet usage monitor software, also commonly referred to as "snooping" software, often runs invisibly in the background of a computer, and people using a computer running snooping software may not be aware that their activity is being monitored. Businesses may choose to monitor their employee's Internet usage in order to track their online activity. Since a large percentage of business security breaches are caused by insiders, an employee who is suspected of committing a cybercrime, such as stealing or sharing confidential information, may be monitored. Employees may also be monitored in order to ensure compliance with their company's Internet usage policies. Parents also frequently use Internet usage monitor programs to monitor how their children use the Internet in order to protect them from online risks. Spouses or romantic partners also use Internet usage monitoring software to spy on their partner's online activity.
