Internet Copyright Violation

An Internet copyright violation is also sometimes referred to as "piracy." Unlawfully downloading and/or sharing copyrighted software, music, or other audio visual media is a common form of Internet copyright violation. Other types of violations include using copyrighted images or text without proper authorization or attribution. In some cases, copyrighted articles or images may be copied from one website and used on another. Third parties often attempt to pass off other's copyrighted material as their own. Business logos and other trademarked items can also be unlawfully used by other parties. Applying for an official copyright is one way to guard against an unlawful Internet copyright violation. Online copyright licenses can also be obtained. Creative Commons licenses are often used to protect online media; these licenses can specify the manner in which a person may legally use a copyrighted item. Proper attribution which clearly states the name of the copyright holder and where the item was obtained is in some cases enough to avoid an Internet copyright violation.
