Information Technology Laws

Information technology laws, also referred to as IT laws, govern issues related to digital information. information technology laws include laws related to electronic commerce, Internet usage, computer software, electronic signatures, privacy and security, as well as many other issues relating to digital information technologies. Information technology laws vary by location, and different countries have their own specific laws, penalties, and methods of enforcement related to information technology. In the United States, various federal agencies are responsible for creating and enforcing information technology laws. The Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section of The United States Department of Justice deals exclusively with cyber crimes, including intellectual property crimes, cyberattacks, and data theft. Information technology attorneys are often consulted for legal issues related to information technology laws. IT attorneys are often used to assist in the creation of software licensing agreements, or with other legal IT issues such as e-commerce, web hosting, IT outsourcing, and intellectual property issues.
